10 Things That Need To Happen If Torchwood Comes Back

6. Bring Back Martha

It doesn't look like she's having a whale of a time in the picture above but it wasn't all bad news for Martha Jones in Torchwood (though admittedly the majority of it was far from a day trip to Disneyland). When she wasn't falling in love with a certain Time Lord or single-handedly travelling the world, the Doctor's ever faithful companion Martha was bridging the gap between her appearances in the franchise's parent show by aiding her new best friend Jack in his Torchwood tribulations - and she did a bloody good job of it, too. She had a three episode arc in the spin off during its second series in which she was given the opportunity to put her medical talents to far better use than she ever did in the TARDIS (OK, maybe that's a bit unfair - she did put an ice pack on someone's head in Doctor Who once...). In her short stint she established herself as a bonafide member of the Torchwood team and it was a real shame to see her go. Jack did say she was welcome to return at any time so there was definitely a suggestion that it was setting things up for her to become a more permanent fixture in the future. She was supposed to be included in its third series but at this point Freema had already crossed over to the other side (the other side in this scenario being ITV for its adaption of the US series Law & Order) so unfortunately her return never came to fruition. That doesn't mean it will never happen. The series itself would have to come back first, though.
