The poor Latimers looked like they'd finally moved on by the close of the second series, as matters were taken into their own hands to "try" Joe for his crimes and banish him from the town forever. Audiences last saw them happy and, for the first time in ages, carefree. Mind you, you could have said their part in proceedings was done with after Series 1, until Joe's appeal shattered the family even further. Revelations over Mark's dalliance with Becca almost wrecked his marriage to Beth. And Mark found himself in the frame for Danny's murder thanks for Bishop's machinations. Where could the characters go from here? Well, provided the delicate equilibirum isn't disturbed, the clan should be fine and have no need to be involved in Series 3. Broadchurch isn't big on equilibrium though, and the pairing of Andrew Buchan and Jodie Whittaker proved to be one of the show's great strengths. It wouldn't be surprising if Chibnall had some more surprises for them up his blood-soaked sleeve...
