When it comes to the series' interpretation of Galadriel, there is a bit of division. Before it was even broadcast, there were concerns that writers had taken more than a few liberties with the character, who had no real military experience to speak of in the books. Indeed, the series iteration is "Commander" Galadriel.

Now, this is quite the departure, but liberties have been taken before with Peter Jackson's six movies. His biggest diversion was, however, something that didn't make the series but was certainly hinted at.

This is, of course, the scenes involving a Galadriel proclaiming she would be a dark Queen should she have the ring. Whilst the "Fellowship" appearance of evil Galadriel could maybe be explained as Frodo's imagination, the summoning of those same dark powers to throw Sauron to Mordor in "Battle of the Five Armies" was not.

Although we caught glimpses of Galadriel's dark sorceress powers in the movies, there appears to be no sign of it here. However, Halbrand (or Sauron, if you prefer) even encourages her to embrace this dark side using the same words she will later proclaim to Frodo. To be honest, there hasn't been much magic to Galadriel as yet in the series, but that might be about to change now that she has a ring of power.

Who knows, maybe her husband might turn up too.
