7. Scully Still Rocks

And the first Special Agent to see any sort of real action in 2016 is... Dana Scully! With Mulder incapacitated by auditory disruption while the pair seek out the missing son of Augustus Goldman, Scully leaps into action, runs through a field and into an old barn to track down the young man behind it all, named (with a nod to former X-Files writer and Breaking Bad creator Vince) Kyle Gilligan. Putting Kyle at gunpoint, it's Scully who handles the arrest and drags him back to the agent's car. Scully in 2016 still rocks - and this action sequence is just one example. The other is the absolutely fantastic job Gillian Anderson does portraying Scully as a mother to the son she never kept, William - but we'll get to that in a bit.
