Goldman, it seems, has kidnapped his own daughter, a powerful psychic, and framed his ex-wife for the murder of their unborn son. However, the child has actually survived, raised in secret by a mother who found him at a roadside accident. While the story was strong enough to stand on its own, tying the mythology into the episode in this particular instance is actually a smart idea. Many fans were concerned after My Struggle that there wouldn't be enough time to address the show's conspiracy plotline, but deftly linking together episodes this way may ease that fear. It's an approach shows like Buffy and Fringe have taken over the years, and it has worked well. Whether or not the remaining four episodes take this approach remains to be seen, and it's likely some may not, but even linking a couple of them seems like the best approach.
