10 Things We Learned From The X-Files Revival Premiere My Struggle
10. Mulder Feels More At Home In Civilian Clothes At This Point
Yes, the suit is iconic. It was the uniform, so to speak, best highlighted by Michael J. Anderson's character Mr. Nutt in the season two episode Humbug, when he sarcastically pegs Mulder's profession to be an F.B.I. agent based on his uninspiring suit choice, only to find out he's spot on in his assessment. These days, however, it almost seems that Mulder is more natural - and more comfortable - in civilian clothes. Having been something of a rogue F.B.I. agent throughout his career, "Special Agent" Mulder seems more at home as a scruffy conspiracy theorist then as a government agent. Of course, My Struggle has Mulder brought back into the government fold, but he never actually puts on the suit. We know he eventually will, but this is one area that the show may wish to reconsider should it return for a season 11, or a movie. Both the last movie (I Want To Believe) and the revival have gone this route, but there's nothing wrong with letting Scully, or Skinner, be the link to the F.B.I., while keeping Mulder as a free agent so to speak. Without the stuffy suit. Just a thought.
