9. The Show Has Reset The Sexual Tension

With apologies to the "shippers" out there (those who want Mulder and Scully together, romantically), the duo work better apart. Or, more accurately, the show works better when there is UST - unresolved sexual tension - between the two. One of the first things keen eyed fans will recognize about the show's revival is that the producers have opted to turn back the clock, or at least reset the tension between the two. It was spoiled early on that the pair would be apart when the new season started, but what we really learned following the premiere of My Struggle was that, on a character level, the shortened season would be about the journey to bring them back together. The tension between them is apparent pretty early on: Mulder and Scully are now akin to a divorced couple still in frequent contact, or trying to make a go of it as friends. Mulder is clearly the wounded party, though it wouldn't be fair to say Scully has moved on - she simply has other things in her life, including her continuing work at the Our Lady of Sorrows hospital (the same facility she worked at in 2008's I Want To Believe). That said, she obviously loves him, and he obviously hasn't let go.
