10 Things We Need To See In House Of The Dragon Season 2

5. The Dragonseeds

House of the Dragon
HBO

The exploration of the unclaimed dragons storyline opens up one of Fire and Blood's more intriguing sub-plots, the Sowing of the Seeds; a literal trial by dragon-fire to identify Targaryen and Valyrian bastards who could serve as riders. Without wanting to give too much away in the way of spoilers, one can swiftly surmise how a perilous endeavor like trying to claim a gargantuan monster like Vermithor could go disastrously wrongly very quickly.

In addition to what are sure to be some hair raising scenes when they attempt to claim the dragons, the Dragonseeds are an integral component of one of the war's most pivotal sequences. What appears to be a storyline designed to boost the Black's war effort sets off an exceedingly dark chain of events, with the Sowing being the first metaphorical domino to tumble. As such, failing to do such an indispensable aspect of Martin's narrative justice would be a crime too egregious to forgive.

The intriguing casting decision for several key characters also looms large for the show runners. Audiences are likely to be in for a surprise; the visage of these would-be dragon riders as described in Fire and Blood is not what one would expect. As such, it will be fascinating to witness HBO's attempts to breath life into several compelling new players, as they are thrust onto the scorched and bloody metaphorical chessboard on which the Dance of the Dragons takes place.
