10 Things We Want To See In The New Batman Animated Series

5. Awesome Soundtrack

BATMAN CAPED CRUSADER

It goes without saying that the theme tune and soundtrack to BTAS is essential to the series success. Not only does it capture the genre and mood of the show with parallels to Tim Burton's 1989 film (as previously mentioned), but it adds to the production value and charm of the show that wasn't seen before.

As audiences were already familiar with the tone and genre of Batman (1989), the music helps create a bridge between these two versions of Batman and allows the audience to set their own expectations from BTAS and what to expect. Composer Shirley Walker, would conduct a full orchestra for episodes, creating a haunting score that would create a mood and pace to the images on screen. For example, the opening to On Leather Wings (1992) adds depth, pace and excitement to the images whilst the use of trombones and string instruments adds a real gothic quality.

Just by looking at the poster for The Caped Crusader (2022) it feels as though it's following the same Dark-Deco genre, so here's hoping there's an equally pure opening theme and score to keep butts glued to seats.
