10 Things We Want To See On The X-Files: Albuquerque
5. More Guy Mann
Rhys Darby gave on of the best performances in all of season ten as a were-monster struggling with the question of what it means to be human.
A standout episode in the revival in 2016, Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster is arguably one of, if not the, best comedic episodes the series ever produced. That it was created over a decade after the show finished its initial run says a lot about everyone involved.
The episode was scripted by Darin Morgan, known for having the best comedic chops among The X-Files writing staff. In fact, while we think of it, a bonus thing we want to see on The X-Files: Albuquerque is the inclusion of Morgan on the writing staff. But whether or not we get that, a sophomore outing from Darby's Guy Mann (the aforementioned Were-Monster) would be fantastic.
Mann's quest to understand the human condition wasn't just funny, but smart. Probably smarter than network television deserves. Stuck in a job he hates to qualify for a mortgage he doesn't even understand, Mann is perhaps the most human character in the episode despite being a monster.
It's all summed up quite nicely in the following Guy Mann quote: "I quickly realized that the only way to be happy as a human was to spend all of your time in the company of non-humans."
