3. The First Person Cast In the Show Was Jessica Walter
Matt Thompson, an executive producer on Archer, claims that, when they were sending out the casting notices, the character of Malory Archer was described to be "like Lucille Bluth, Jessica Walter's character from Arrested Development."
You can imagine how happy they were when Walter's agent called them and said they could get the real deal.
After she was in the fold, the rest of the casting process was quick and smooth, and the production team gives her a lot of the credit for that. Just having her name attached to the project was a big draw for other actors, but she also went out of her way to help recruit them.
Sadly, Jessica Walter has passed away recently at age 80, and that means we will no longer see her on Archer. Still, she gave us some of the best moments of the show and was without a doubt one of its best and funniest characters and we can only be grateful for having the opportunity to see her work.
