10 Things You Learn Rewatching Bob's Burgers
6. Season One Feels Like A Different Show
All television shows take a little while to get the momentum going, so that they can find their voice and what works for the show. That's why it's understandable that the first series is always a bit different in tone.
That said, season one of Bob's Burgers is so different, you wouldn't even think it was the same show. Just the visuals alone look grittier and less colourful. It's obvious at the time, the producers were trying to replicate the daring humour of something like Family Guy in order to stand out - Louise literally calls Tina autistic in the pilot, something that would never happen in a modern episode.
Furthermore, the characterisation of Linda and Bob seem almost swapped. Granted, Linda had her eccentric moments (trying to stage a dinner theatre and turning their apartment into a Bed and Breakfast) but generally, she was the sensible, level headed one.
Meanwhile, season one's Bob Belcher was part of some crazy antics that he wouldn't usually partake in nowadays - hiding in the walls from his relatives, taking a cow into his home and making a fool of himself at a local festival.
