10 Things You Need To Know About True Detective Season 2
5. Vince Vaughn Might Be The Villain
While it was a shock that Vince Vaughn would be starring in one of the darkest shows on television, it was even more of a shock to learn that he will most likely be one of, if not the lead, antagonist. Since Vaughn is mostly known as a comedian, many have jumped at the chance to condemn his casting. Many feel he is wrong for the part. On the flip side, Vaughns willingness to step away from comedy and into such a dark role is (hopefully) a sign that he intends to branch out and push himself into inhabiting a type of character he is unfamiliar with. It is admittedly hard to imagine him in this series, but were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. His casting is a risk, and taking risks is something television doesnt do enough. It also shows that Nic Pizzolatto is beyond casting the obvious choice, which is also to be commended. Basically, Vaughns role in True Detectives second season is a chance for the actor to distance himself from movies like Wedding Crashers and Delivery Man, which should be very interesting. He very well could surprise us, which would be fantastic. It is always great to be taken by surprise by a familiar actor.
