6. Colin Farrell & Vince Vaughn Are Confirmed
Among the actors rumored to be in the running for season two was Colin Farrell, and it turns out this was more than mere rumor. Last month HBO officially announced that Farrell would star as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him. That wasnt the only named dropped however. To the complete surprise of everyone, Vince Vaughn, known mostly for his comedic roles, was also confirmed to star. He will be playing Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner. True Detective is often associated with having helped rejuvenate Matthew McConaugheys career in the public eye, so in hindsight it comes as no surprise that both Farrell and Vaughn jumped at the chance to be involved. Both havent been major box office draws for some time, and True Detective is a chance for them to flex their acting muscles and revive their careers. Well be expecting great things from them come season two.
