10 Things You Never Knew About Game Of Thrones' Carice Van Houten

2. "Annie" Inspired Her To Get Into Entertainment

When Carise was just a little "meisje", her father used to take her to the silent cinema (which he was a huge fan of), where she would watch silent films from the 1920's that sometimes would last up to 5 hours.

She found them fascinating, but it wasn't until she was introduced to a film about a little orphan girl that she really wanted to get into entertainment. "I just wanted to be Annie; I just wanted to be that orphan kid and wanted to sing and dance."

Since then the star was inspired to reach for the erm, stars. "I like to make a connection and communicate with the audience to make myself feel less lonely. I also do it to develop my own character, so sometimes I do it to just be away in a certain area that I've never been to. But mostly, the story has to do something for me."
