10 Things You Only Notice Rewatching Schitt's Creek

8. Most Of The Book Titles Are Fake

Although we see the characters on Schitt's Creek reading a lot, most of the books and magazines are fake. Now, using fictitious books is pretty common practice in tv series to avoid copyright infringement.

However, the reading material used for the show is interesting since the book titles usually have some connection to how the characters are feeling at that point. While Moira is in bed browsing a magazine called Cheap and Cheerful, it's an obvious nod to her whimsical manner. Stevie can be seen engrossed in Cypher Mind, highlighting how introverted and reserved she is. When David talks about how nobody understands him, he's skimming A Rare Sophistication: A Higher Aesthetic.

Occasionally, these made-up book titles reference the plot of the episode. Moira reads A Knock at the Door in the episode where the Roses have a miscommunication with someone tapping on their door. When Moira forgets the name of Jocelyn's baby, she's absorbed in a novel called A Hint of Amnesia.

Because this in-joke becomes more obvious as the show progresses, it makes you want to watch the whole show again and see all the Easter eggs hidden in these book titles.
