10 Things You Somehow Missed In Bob's Burgers

6. The Cannibal Family

The pilot episode of Bob’s Burgers follows the plot that Bob is under fire by the health inspector after Louise starts a rumour that the burgers served are made with real human flesh. It's a good set up of the eccentric traits of the Belcher family, as well as the on-going theme that Bob shouldn’t put so much trust into his children.

However, this whole episode actually paid tribute to the original concept of the Belchers being cannibals. Creator Loren Bouchard had this idea and was possibly influenced on going for a more mature themed show after working with the adult swim channel. That explains why the producers chose to have a crematorium next door: so that the family had easy access to human flesh.

It was probably for the best not to go down this sinister pathway, because the Belchers would lose their realism and relatability that we’ve grown to love. Also, who seriously wants a hundred plus episodes worth of cannibalistic puns?
