7. The Belchers Live In New Jersey
For a while, there was a debate (and sometimes still is) about where the Belchers and their restaurant are based. Since John Roberts’ voice is based on his mother’s strong Long Island accent, some fans assumed that’s where the family lives, whilst other viewers theorised that they live in Massachusetts.
The family actually live in New Jersey and a clue was given away in the season three episode It Snakes a Village. The Belchers are on their way to Florida to meet Linda’s parents and the map clearly shows them leaving from New Jersey.
At a Comic-Con panel in 2015, creator Loren Bouchard not only confirmed that they live in New Jersey but the suburb they specifically reside in is Seymour’s Bay. Bouchard explained that the name was in honour of the show’s editor Mark Seymour.
