10 Things You Somehow Missed In Bob's Burgers
5. Louise Is NEVER Without Her Hat
Ok, this is a slight exaggeration, because in the episode “Ear-sy Rider”, Louise’s bunny hat is stolen and she wears a hood instead. But factually, we’ve definitely never seen her without some type of headwear. In every family photo, in every type of weather, no matter what situation she’s in, Louise always seems to wear her bunny hat. Showrunner Loren Bouchard said he was inspired by an anime cartoon called Tekkonkinkreet, where one character constantly wore a little bear hat.
Some fans have investigated further why she’s so uptight about keeping her bunny gear on and why it was such a trauma for her when the hat was stolen.
One theory suggests that Louise looks a lot like her Linda because of their hairstyle, but has always tried to distance herself from being similar to her mother with the hat as the distinguishing factor. Others believe she is simply insecure about her ears.
And some even believe that the hat is specifically a nod to Marge Simpson. In the early years of The Simpsons, Matt Groening conceived the idea that Marge’s large hairstyle was to conceal her mutant bunny ears. He wanted to reveal them as Marge’s big secret in the very last Simpsons episode. None of Groening’s co-producers liked this idea and thus, it was ditched. However, Marge’s secret bunny ears can be seen in the Simpsons arcade game, when she is being electrocuted.
