10 Things You Somehow Missed In House Of The Dragon

8. The Return Of Families From Game Of Thrones

It's hardly surprising that the return of several iconic families from Game of Thrones and Martin's novels may have gone missed amidst the carnage of the first episode's tourney.

Sending horsemen flying in every direction, Daemon Targaryen is the star of the show in this sequence. It's not much of a stretch to imagine that the majority of the audience's attention was likely focused upon the Rogue Prince's petulant taunting of House Hightower or his epic brawl with Criston Cole.

As such, the reappearance of these familiar faces is an easily missable footnote in the pugilistic mayhem. As Daemon struts past a row of knights in search of his first victim - unlucky, Sir Gwayne Hightower - several instantly recognizable sigils can briefly be seen adorning the horsemen's shields and armour.

The usual suspects in the form of the Starks, Lannisters and Baratheons all appear as the Prince contemptuously surveys his competition, but they're just the headline. The flayed man of House Bolton and the Tyrell's golden rose are both on proud display, while the first rider to be unhorsed in the tourney carries the distinctive red archer of House Tarly.

Several families from Martin's works that don't appear in Game of Thrones even manage to get a foot in the door. Representatives of Houses Corbray, Lefford and Mallister can also be seen attempting to chop pieces out of each other in the savage melee that duly ensues.
