10 Times Donald Glover Stole The Show In Community

9. The Trampoline (Aerodynamics Of Gender)

Aerodynamics of Gender is an imperfect episode of the show, with the secondary plot involving the women of the study group and Abed not being particularly well written. It would still be remembered as a decent episode without the main plot, but Glover’s performance cements it as a legendary episode of television..

Jeff and Troy accidentally knock a basketball into a hedge. When trying to find it, they arrive in a saturated green paradise that contains a glorious trampoline. Both Joel McHale and Glover sell this with total doe eyed disbelief, incredulous over this object's spiritual powers, especially when they take their first leaps. Both are doing completely zen performances, their relaxed demeanours being devastatingly funny considering that their inner peace has come from a trampoline.

Glover's performance and the episode itself achieves its peak when Pierce turns up to ruin the idyllic nature of the bounce, forcing Troy to break the main rule of the trampoline, "no double bouncies." This moment is so good, as Troy sobs like he's lost a loved one, screaming at Pierce that he hates him, while hopping up and down on a trampoline. It's deeply funny with or without context.

An honourable mention goes to his high pitched voice when he realises the trampoline's owner was racist, his delivery of, "it came out of nowhere", is an all timer Glover moment.
