10 Times Futurama Made NO Sense
3. Fry Should Have Woken Up In Old New York
When Fry fell into the freezer tube in the year 2000, he was in New York. However, when he awoke one thousand years later, he found himself in New New York, a new version of his home city that had been built upon the ruins of Old New York.
For the centuries that Fry spent cryogenically frozen, New York was shot down by aliens several times and rebuilt several times, until it finally became the technological, futuristic marvel it was by the year 3000, leaving the old city to decay in the sewers underground.
Yet, when Fry stepped out of the freezer, he was in New New York when he should have been in Old New York. It's not like the city had simply evolved, renovating old buildings, it was literally a brand new city built on top of the old city, so how is it that Fry was able to wake up in New New York?
He should have woken underground in Old New York, where the rest of the thousand year old buildings were. Did the city just decide to take the cryogenic building with them to the new surface? If that is the case, why take just this building and nothing else?
