7. Love And Joe Just Happen To Be In The Same Hotel
In one of the season’s more entertaining episodes, Fear and Loathing in Beverly Hills, Joe and Forty are “kidnapped” by men Forty has hired, and are taken to a hotel to work on a script for Forty’s movie. The movie is based on Guinevere Beck’s book, but this isn’t the only case of small world syndrome that this episode suffers from.
Its secondary story revolves around Love attempting to reconcile with her mother. This reconciliation is over dinner and drinks, taking place in a Beverly Hills hotel. You can probably see where this is going.
On one of the very few occasions that he leaves the room, Joe, who Forty has recently spiked with a heavy dose of LSD, bumps into Love in the hallway. Love drunkenly confesses her feelings for him, but Joe is unable to respond in his current hallucinogenic state. Love takes this as a sign of rejection and goes off for a cry with her mum.
This was the catalyst for the aforementioned reconciliation, but it all seems a little too convenient. Is there only one hotel in Beverly Hills? Are these twins so in sync they know where the other is at all times? Or did the writing staff drop LSD and quickly vomit this concept out before the high kicked in?
