Just when some of the questions started to get answered by a flashback to Jacob and MIB as young brothers on the island, 50 more questions were introduced (classic Lost). We know that the Mother killed the birth mother of Jacob and his brother, but her identity remains unknown, revealing nothing about Jacob and MIB's background. Although we discover that the purpose of the young brothers on the island was for one of them to become the guardian for the island and the make sure the 'magic light' never goes out. There was a religious aspect implied throughout the story, but not much else was explained. Who was the Mother and where did she come from? Was she always on the island? How did Jacob and MIB get their powers? Viewers can't be blamed for feeling a little put out that so many more mysteries were raised so close to the finale.
