10 Times Mad Men Became The Weirdest Drama On Television
6. That Time Don Murdered An Ex-Lover Then Kicked Her Corpse Under The Bed
Don Draper is a terrible person; damaged, yes, but there's no getting around the fact he's also a despicable human being. Think of all the women he betrayed, cheated on and, on one occasion, even treated like a sex-slave (poor Linda Cardellini). Oh, and that time he dreamed about murdering a woman and casually discarded her body like an old shoe. OK, so Don technically does nothing wrong in this scene - in the throes of a fever dream, Don imagines himself cheating on new wife Megan with an old flame, who he subsequently strangles to death then kicks under his bed - but his subconscious just about sums up the man's fathomless misogyny and the depths to which he's prepared to sink in order to cover up his own lies. The scene also, once again, comes out of nowhere, and is initially played out as reality rather than as a dream. Props to Matthew Weiner for panicking fans that Draper had finally snapped.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
