10 Times Ned Flanders Was Indeedily-Doodily The Funniest Character In The Simpsons

5. When He Started His Flanderific Day In The Most Marge-alicious Way

As “Hurricane Neddy” made clear, Ned is a man who likes to try and keep his emotions to himself, even to his own detriment.

He makes the best of bad situations (telling his children they’ll have an ‘imagination Christmas’ one lean year), he battles on, he tries not to go to pieces (except in issues of his own morality, naturally).

He’s relentlessly cheery, in short, which is one of many things that Homer irrationally loathes about him. In Season 14’s “Helter Shelter,” Lisa is given a player’s hockey stick at a match, but it’s revealed to be full of vicious termites that eat through their house overnight.

The next morning, Marge opens the cupboards to make breakfast, discovering a huge hole in the wall through which she can see Flanders trimming his hedge. Complete unperturbed by the situation, he offers another of his best lines ever:

“What a Margealicious way to start my Flanderific day!”
