Lori Petty may best be known to audiences for appearances in a variety of roles, such as A League of Their Own, Tank Girl, in which she played the lead role, Prison Break and Orange Is The New Black, alongside Kate Mulgrew. She appeared in Star Trek: Voyager in the fifth season episode Gravity as Noss, a humanoid inhabitant of an alien world. Here, she developed a one-sided romantic bond with Tuvok, as the two of them were stranded on a planet at the bottom of a gravity well, along with Tom Paris.

In 2009, Petty was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. This was in response to an accident in which Petty struck a skateboarder with her car although, thankfully, the victim was not badly injured as was released from hospital after a few hours.

She was released on $100,000 bail before being charged and sentenced to five years’ probation for the DUI, to which she had pleaded no contest. She released a statement espousing her deepest and most humble apologies, pledging to never allow such a thing to happen again.
