James Cromwell has appeared in several different roles in various Star Trek properties. He is probably best known as Zefram Cochrane, the inventor of Warp Drive, in Star Trek: First Contact. He played the brash inventor with amiable charm, instantly becoming one of the best parts of the film.

He was arrested for what is perhaps the best reason out of everyone on this list. Cromwell is an outspoken animal rights activist and, in 2019, he was arrested while protesting at Texas A&M University. He released a statement through PETA, where he explained that despite a very small success rate, Texas A&M continued to experiment on dogs, citing the attempt to find a cure for muscular dystrophy as a reason.

He does in fact have several arrests under his belt, including one that he shares with J.G. Hertzler. On that occasion, they were two of 19 people who were arrested for protesting in Watkins Glen, New York, against underground gas storage in salt caverns near Seneca Lake. He was once escorted out of a Democratic Party fundraiser as he protested a power station that had been built, while another time he was arrested for trespass while protesting along with PETA outside of Seaworld.
