10 Times Star Trek Reused Props To Cut Corners

4. Diamond Shelving

Star Trek: The Next Generation's first season was fiendish for reusing props. There are several entries on this list that feature lamps, desk ornaments, and other bits that continued to pop up, which can be forgiven for the studio mining years of production on the movies and Original Series to save a bit of cash where possible for the next show.

In We'll Always Have Paris, Picard visits the holodeck as he thinks of Dr. Janice Manheim, an old fling who is brought back into his life. In the beautiful restaurant which, in true Hollywood style, faces out onto the Eiffel Tower, there is a rather distinctive diamond-shaped shelving unit behind him and his server. This was not the unit's first appearance in the franchise.

In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, this exact shelving unit was shown sitting in Admiral Kirk's quarters. He and Bones have their toast alongside its shiny chrome exterior, as there it is a stand for some of Kirk's more precious collectibles. It is also present for the man's first experience with Romulan Ale, though of course that too would not be unique to this film.
