10 Times Star Trek Reused Sets And Hoped You Wouldn't Notice

1. Enterprise Bridge/Reliant Bridge

In a way, this is the ultimate example of hiding something in plain sight. Director Nicholas Meyer joined the Trek family with Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan. The stakes were high, Admiral Kirk and the rest of the crew began to feel quite old, and from the depths of space, a madman sought revenge.

This madman was, however, cost-conscious.

The bridge of the Enterprise, built for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, was brought out of retirement. First, it served as the simulation room during the Kobayashi Maru test. Then, it would appear as itself as Lieutenant Saavik commanded it out of drydock. While it would of course serve as the Enterprise bridge for the rest of the film, there are several scenes in which it appears in the same scene - twice.

The bridge also served as the main bridge of the USS Reliant, commanded by Khan Noonian Singh. As the hero and villain of the film famously never meet face to face, this was a clever way to get around the recycling of the set - as an audience, we're paying far more attention to the performances being given, rather than the deck plating under these actors' feet.

Well played, team.
