10 Times The Lucifer Show Referenced The Comics (And 10 Ways It Totally Ignored Them)

14. Mazikeen's Mask (Easter Egg)

We only get to see Mazikeen wearing her mask in one episode of the show, and it's the episode that takes place in an alternate universe. Nonetheless, Mazikeen looked remarkably comic-accurate in that episode, and it was great to see her iconic half-mask make an appearance.

In the comics, the left side of Mazikeen's face is composed of exposed muscle, bone, and brains, as if she'd had a normal human face that burned or rotted away. When Maze follows Lucifer to Earth, she works as a waitress in Lux, the club he opens in L.A., and dons a white half-mask, seemingly to fit in with the humans that frequent the club...or at least to avoid drawing attention or making the humans run away screaming.

Later in the comics, Mazikeen wears the mask to hide her altered face, which was a source of shame for her, and in Holly Black's series we see her wear a more stylized version of the mask as she rules over Hell. It had to make it into at least one episode of the show.
