10 Times The Lucifer Show Referenced The Comics (And 10 Ways It Totally Ignored Them)

13. Lucifer's Devil Face (Ignores The Comics)

Lucifer's most defining attribute on the TV series is his iconic "devil face," and one major story arc centered around him trying to regain his devil face after losing it. The hellish features in question, however, are entirely exclusive to the TV version of the character.

In the comics (from Sandman to Books of Magic, to his own series), Lucifer is constantly said to be the most beautiful of all the angels, and while Lucifer would be the first to tell you that beauty is subjective, the devil face is clearly intended to inspire terror and disgust, rather than awe and admiration.

The comic iteration of the character certainly could change his features to anything he wanted at will, including a "devil face" if he chose to, and he did in fact make one person violently ill in the Sandman series by simply letting them gaze deep into his eyes, but his face is his face, and he has no alternate version of himself or his visage. Lucifer is simply himself, and wears his Bowie-inspired face with pride.
