8. Yard Work Simulator

The use of Virtual Reality in society is becoming more and more prevalent. School's are using it for children to immerse themselves into fictional realms for creative writing, doctors and nurses are using it to replicate life saving surgeries and others are using it to play games such as VR Toilet Simulator (yep, it's a thing) or I Am Jesus Christ, a game where, you guessed it, you can see through the eyes of Jesus and perform miracles.

In Season 9 Episode 12, legendary Simpsons writer John Swartzwelder wrote Bart Carney, an episode where Bart and Homer lose the house to carnival workers. At the beginning, the Simpsons are arguing about which attraction to visit first and Bart choses to go for a virtual gardening experience called Yard Work Simulator - which today doesn't look out of place amongst VR Toilet and I Am Jesus). Marge tries to argue that he never wants to do yard work at home but halfway through her argument realises he won't notice the irony and gives one of her famous hmmmmrrrs.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
