10 Times The Simpsons Ruined Homer's Life
4. Being Forced To Leave His Dream Job At The Bowling Alley
For long-time fans of The Simpsons, it’s a bit of an in-joke that Homer has had an absurd amount of jobs. The show itself makes self-deprecating jokes about this, as Homer tries to list everything he’s tried. From clown to inventor to SpringShield security officer and Mr. Plow, he really has done it all.
Among all these vocations, though, he’s only ever really considered one his dream job: a position at the bowling alley owned by Al Gumble (Barney’s uncle). He achieves his dream, quitting his job at the plant in spectacular fashion along the way, only to learn that Maggie was on the way.
“And Maggie Makes Three” explores Homer’s devastation at having to leave his dream job behind, as well as his resentment towards his newborn. It all works out in touching fashion, though.
