9. That Cliched Escape From Terminus

Now hold on a second: The Terminus episodes were great. The Termites were truly grotesque and frightening and it was great to see a plot focusing on human conflict that didn't involve The Governor. That said, when Rick et al were locked up by the cannibals at the end of Season 4 you did kind of wonder how they would get out of their predicament. The situation looked so bleak it was almost impossible to imagine a reasonable explanation for how they'd escape. So it proved. While the return of Carol made plenty of sense, the scene where Glenn, Rick, Daryl and Bob were lined up abattoir-style over a trough took things a little too far. Two Termites quickly killed three or four non-recurring characters and just when you thought Glenn was next, Gareth walked in and asked them to take a break and check on something with him, giving Rick a chance to wriggle free and kill his captors. Come on, you really expect us to believe that? How convenient.
