10 Times The Worlds Of Doctor Who And EastEnders Collided
10. Cheryl Fergison
Who could ever forget Cheryl Fergison's portrayal of the karaoke-loving, chronic asthmatic Heather Trott in EastEnders? There wasn't a dry eye in the house when she was tragically murdered by Ben Mitchell back in 2012 but in her untimely death she will be remembered by millions for leaving a lasting legacy on the heart of the nation. Unfortunately, though, the same can't be said for her blink and you'll miss it guest stint in Doctor Who. The actress is briefly seen in 2005's The Empty Child as Mrs Lloyd who literally appears on screen for all of 10 seconds to usher her family into their bomb shelter during a World War II London air raid. She more than made up for this lack of screen time in EastEnders, though. Originally introduced to the Square as a guest character with a love of all things headbands, cheese and George Michael, over time, and thanks to the comedic nature of her performances, she was reinstated as a series regular with a love of all things... erm, headbands, cheese and George Michael. It wasn't all laughs and giggles for Heather, though, and at one point she was involved in a different type of 'whodunnit' when she became impregnated by an unknown man. She knew who had done it, of course (it wasn't one of those storylines...), but it certainly kept the rest of us on tenterhooks to find out who the father was. At one point every man in Walford was seemingly in the running but it turned out to be Darren Miller which was anticlimactic (and not to mention ridiculous) at best. Ah, Heather. It was fun while it lasted, girl.
