10 Times The Worlds Of Doctor Who And EastEnders Collided

9. Don Gilet

Remember Don Gilet who played Donna Noble's fiancé in the 2006 Christmas Special The Runaway Bride? They were seemingly a match made in heaven before it transpired that he'd secretly been working for the Empress of the Racnoss the entire time. It's always the quiet ones, isn't it? Believe it or not, though, serving as the minion of a giant half spider/half human creature that looks like Sarah Parish is nothing compared to some of the sinful deeds that Don embarked upon during his controversial stint in EastEnders. His role as the charismatic and strong minded Lucas Johnson paved the way for one of the soap's most dramatic storylines ever when his character killed his secret wife (portrayed by Sharon Duncan Brewster who, coincidentally, has also guest starred in Doctor Who as Maggie Cain in The Waters of Mars) by impaling her throat on a rake. What a way to go. It was unintentional, though, apparently, which is why he went on to kill another guy called Owen Turner (played by Lee Rose who was Boatswain in The Curse of the Black Spot - seriously, what is it with Don killing off his fellow Doctor Who alumni?!) who he subsequently buried in the middle of the Square. That's not all, either, because he even kidnapped his wife Denise (she... hasn't been in Doctor Who, but, let's face it, it's only a matter of time!) and held her hostage in a basement, but not before he faked her death and held a funeral service in her memory. Because why not? See. Tricking someone into marrying you and using them as a pawn in a big spidey's ploy to take over the world doesn't sound so bad now, does it? As Lucas proved (and then some), there are worse things you can do to your beloved.
