10 Times The Worlds Of Doctor Who And EastEnders Collided
4. Michelle Ryan
Michelle Ryan's stint in EastEnders thrust her into the spotlight as the centrepiece of one of the show's most memorable and controversial storylines to date. It's a real shame, then, that the same can't be said for her short appearance in Doctor Who. The actress starred in the 2009 Easter 'special' Planet of the Dead as the Doctor's 'companion of the week' Lady Christina de Souza, a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie who enjoyed thieving because she was bored of her aristocratic upbringing... or something like that, anyway. She didn't really do all that much to be honest, apart from helping the Doctor defeat the Swarm before flying off for adventures anew in a double-decker bus and... oh, that's pretty much it. Her escapades in Albert Square, however, were much more dramatic. Introduced in 2000 as part of the soap's new formidable Slater clan, there was never a dull moment in their household and the drama reached new levels of intensity when it transpired, in 2002, that her sister Kat was actually her mother which meant that her dad Charlie was actually her great uncle while her actual uncle, Harry, was, in fact, her biological father. Confused yet? River Song, eat your heart out... Suffice to say, it was a storyline which gripped the entire nation and the moment in which the truth was revealed (in case you've forgotten, the scene involved Zoe affirming "You ain't my muvva!" in the middle of the Square before Kat screamed "Yes I am!" at the top of her lungs) is regarded as one of the most iconic moments in British TV history. At least that's something for Michelle to be proud of.
