10 Tiny Details In Futurama You Definitely Missed
9. Mars Somehow Survived
There have been some weird and wonderful worlds visited by the Planet Express crew, and often the more ludicrous the better. However, while there are ridiculous planets like the Nude Beach Planet, Dog Doo 7, and Planet Amazonia, there was always room for good old Mars.
The Red Planet was Amy Wong’s home, and in ‘Into the Wild Green Yonder’, Leo Wong broke ground on the fabulous Mars Vegas. Unfortunately, Mars was ultimately destroyed by a solar flare in ‘A Farewell To Arms’.
In the episode that saw the people of Earth flee to Mars after finding a prophecy of death and destruction, it turned out that it was Mars itself that was set to be destroyed. This turned out to be the first prediction of the end of the world to ever be correct, as Mars was blown up by the sun almost to the minute.
Nine episodes later however, the crew returned to Mars Vegas, which had apparently survived being blown to pieces along with the rest of the planet. In animated shows, continuity on a larger scale is typically not as important as in other shows, but this took things a little too far. Did the writers just forget that they blew up Mars literally within that same season?
