10 Totally Unnecessary Deaths In Horror TV Shows

5. Allison Argent - Teen Wolf

MTV's Teen Wolf (a reimagining of the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie) didn't take long to become an out-and-out horror show with teen elements, rather than the other way around.

Starring alongside Tyler Posey's titular teenage werewolf Scott McCall was Crystal Reed as Allison Argent - the latest in a long line of fanatical werewolf hunters. Even after their relationship ended, they remained allies... until Allison's sudden death at the end of season three.

Now, this wasn't due to the demands of the storyline. Reed was a few years older than the rest of the cast, and asked to leave the show to pursue other roles. Reed's amicable exit meant that, had Allison not died, she could have returned at any point to resume her role, whether full time or as a guest star.

However, the McCall/Argent relationship had been pivotal, defining the show's conflict dynamic between humans and supernatural beings. Allison's arc was to be the leader destined to rewrite the Argent family motto from the militant "We hunt those who hunt us" to "We protect those who cannot protect themselves", a credo which included protecting innocent supernaturals.

In her absence, the show continued with a vital piece missing from the puzzle. It's telling that even the show's creator Jeff Davis recognised their mistake, mandating Allison Argent's resurrection in this year's Teen Wolf: The Movie, even if that arc was fairly nonsensical.

It would have been so much easier if he hadn't needed to resurrect her in the first place.
