The story that famously introduced the Weeping Angels in the world, also introduced Sally Sparrow to Larry Nightingale.

While the pair had met before, their adventure with the Doctor and the angels is what really brings them closer together, as they decode the Timelord’s messages and find his TARDIS. It is obvious to anyone that a romance is blossoming between them as they deal with these strange circumstances. Unfortunately, this new love comes at a cost, as it’s not only the Doctor who connects them.

Larry’s sister, Cathy, becomes a victim of the angels when she goes exploring an abandoned house with Sally. By the time Sally receives a letter from Cathy, via her grandson, she has already died.

It is mainly this tragedy, you could argue, that draws Larry and Sally together. After all, who else is going to know, let alone understand, how it feels to have someone you care about thrown back in time? It is a bittersweet fact that loss, as well as love, can draw us together.
