8. Dick Solomon - 3rd Rock From The Sun
3rd Rock from the Sun was a huge hit for NBC in the late 1990s, which was a surprise to many viewers and critics given the premise. Four aliens came to Earth to learn everything they could about the planet. The mission was supposed to be brief but ended up taking six years as they found humanity to be a lot more complicated and engaging than expected.
A huge reason for the success of the series was the cast. Led by John Lithgow as Dick Solomon, the cast was rounded out by Kristen Johnston, French Stewart and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the other three aliens. The absurd chemistry between them was incredible.
Ron Swanson would hate Dick Solomon at first. He was a strange man obsessed with himself over anything else. But Ron is also someone who values a good education and would respect Dick as a professor. He would also respect Dick's almost absurd level of honesty, which would be a solid foundation for their friendship.
