3. Janice - Friends
Outside of the main six in Friends, there were a handful of secondary characters, with the likes of Gunther, Mike, and Ross and Monica's parents, that proved to be defining personalities in the show. However, you simply can't mention this group without talking about one of the most iconic characters in the show, Janice.
After appearing in a handful of episodes throughout the first two seasons, Chandler's on again off again girlfriend had a much larger role at the start of season three. After she cheated on Chandler and went back to her ex-husband, she reappeared in the show just once a season for the remaining seven seasons.
The incredible thing is that, no matter how many times she was brought back, it was always done in a way that took audiences by surprise. In season five she sheepishly said hi to the guys after accidentally revealing she hooked up with Ross, and in season six her voice was heard on a mixtape Chandler gave to Monica, but the other five times we were greeted with that infamous "oh... my... gawd."
Arguably the most iconic of these came in season ten when she was looking to buy the house next to Monica and Chandler. Even after all this time, after so many returns, fans still forgot about Janice enough that when she returned it was comedy gold.
