10 TV Characters We REALLY Didn't Want To Die

6. Tara Maclay (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

Bran Hodor Game of Thrones
Mutant Enemy

Buffy The Vampire Slayer rarely killed off characters but when they did, it stung (Joyce anyone?) However, nothing stung more than when Tara was sent to her death, especially because it occurred for no reason whatsoever.

Tara's death was stupid for many reasons, but the worst thing about it was that it completely destroyed Willow's recent character development.

Willow had gone from a boy-loving goody-two-shooed red head to a magic-obsessed cool and interesting witch who also happened to be in a relationship with another woman. At the time, audiences weren't used to seeing two women together, let alone happy, so for the LGBT + community, it felt like a win.

Annoyingly, Buffy The Vampire Slayer fell for the same old "bury your gays" TV trope. The lesbian had to die because god forbid she be happy.Thankfully, these tropes are not as common today as they were but you still find them hanging around from time to time.
