10 TV Characters You Never Expected To Be Killed Off

Sons of Anarchy certainly wasn't shy when it came to killing off its own characters. In fact, of the key players that started the whole thing off in the pilot, only two survived in Chibs and Tig to see the end of the finale. 

However, by the end of season one, it was still unclear exactly how trigger-happy creator Kurt Sutter would become with his own characters. 13 episodes in, there were no major fatalities, until Agent June Stahl decided to make it look like Opie Winston had ratted on the club in attempt to get him to actually talk.

When Clay got wind of what they perceived to be Opie's betrayal, he sent Tig to kill their brother. However, Opie and his wife switched cars for the night, unbeknownst to the former's would-be killer, and so when he put those bullets through the car's back window, he didn't realise it was actually Donna he murdered.

Donna was the first truly major character to die in the show, and it was at a point that you just wouldn't have seen such an innocent and important character getting gunned down like she did. This began the fracture of the club, particularly between Jax and Clay, and the reverberations from such a shocking death were felt for years afterward.
