Consistently breaking audience records and being one of the most highly rated sitcoms on TV, The Big Bang Theory was another show from Chuck Lorre that ran until its twelfth season. It came to an in mid-2019, with just shy of 300 episodes under its belt.

Though not without its flaws - most of which came from its poorly written characters and repetitive storylines - the show's incorporation of pop culture references, science themed episodes and unconventional leads made it a massive hit with viewers the world over.

From the creation of high-strung genius Sheldon Cooper to the awkward will-they-won't-they of Leonard Hofstadter and literal girl next door Penny, the show soared with the humour of its oddball characters and proved more than once to be quite an effective comedy and drama when it wanted to be.

It may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but it justified its long run all the same.
