Archer recently completed its twelfth season and has been renewed for a thirteenth, despite the passing of series mainstay Jessica Walter. Given the fact that it's an animated sitcom, its existence really comes down to how long people want to keep making new episodes.

Like all animated comedies - South Park, Family Guy, American Dad amongst them - Archer has the potential to run forever if it wanted to, and is only really limited by how much audiences are willing to keep watching.

The series follows Sterling Archer, a narcissistic, alcoholic spy, and his equally dysfunctional, eccentric co-workers. It's violent, action-packed, and absolutely hysterical, boosted to greatness by its unique brand of humour and exquisite voice work.

Throughout its run, Archer has been a solid ratings success, and has reinvented itself time and time again to make sure its formula never becomes stale or overly familiar. With a thirteenth season on the way, it's great to see the show isn't ready to stop running yet. TV wouldn't be the same without it.
