10 TV Lines Actors Refused To Say

5. Tom Payne Wouldn't Agree With Maggie - The Walking Dead

In the case of The Walking Dead star Tom Payne, it ultimately wasn't that he refused to speak the offending line outright, but that he ultimately delivered it in a way that betrayed its original intent.

Payne, who played Jesus on the show, took umbrage with one of the closing scenes from the season eight finale, where after Maggie (Lauren Cohan) announces her plot to kill Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Jesus was supposed to agree and say, "We will."

But Payne felt that this was out of character for Jesus and "couldn't do it truthfully as an actor." So, while Payne wasn't in a position to be turning down lines, he simply decided to deliver it in a "half-supporting" fashion.

Ultimately, likely as a result of this, his reading of the line ended up being cut, and in the final version of the episode we only hear Jesus agreeing to help fortify the Hilltop, while Daryl (Norman Reedus) steps out of the shadows to agree with Maggie's decision to kill Negan.
