10 TV Romances That Made Us Feel Ill

1. Don & Betty - Mad Men

Don Draper And Betty Draper So beautiful. So wrong. This was a coupling that I must admit, still makes me sad, still horrifies me. Even after the recent little hook up that gave Betty her groove back. You know, it's very easy to blame Don, be angry at his cheating ways. In many ways you are right, she was at home taking care of the kids (sort of) and was out gallivanting with his harlots. But there is more to it. She knew who he was. She knew he was cheating. She knew he was no good, and she stayed. Because she was madly in love with him? No. Because she was afraid to be alone. In that day and age, a divorced woman was the worst thing you could be, she would be "worthless". So she suppressed, and waited. To me, they were both at fault. It never could have worked. She was a woman who needed a real man, constant approval, constant attention. And he was a man that needed... the same. How can the two co-exist? They cannot. It's why he remarried his very own groupie, and why things started falling apart when she was getting all the glory. It's why Betty married the sweet Harry, who will take care of her children and adore her, no matter what. I like that things seemed to have turned out well for Betty, this last season was her best. Don, on the other hand... I doubt he could ever be happy.

Born in Israel, but raised partly in the UK, Shira is rather an odd duck. She will get in your face with her opinion, but will then be super polite to the waitress serving her a cocktail, no matter how bad the service is. Movies are her passion, along with good TV, music, and Shakespeare. She loves to sing and goes to karaoke a lot, too. She will do anything creative, and will resort to finger painting if necessary. Shira also, apparently, enjoys writing about herself in third person, which is weird. But she just finished her first Fantasy novel, and it's not about her, so that's ok. Shira is very glad to be a part of WhatCulture!
