10 TV Romances That Made Us Feel Ill

2. Nate & Brenda - Six Feet Under

Nate Et Brenda 1 Out of all the couples, this one is probably the most based in reality. I feel like I've met them, in different variations. They are the couple that has a long and complex history, which they believe can help them hold on. They are the ones that have a baby and think it will magically solve things. They used to have love, but they learn the hardest lesson of all - love is not enough. How could it be, with Brenda being a sex addict who has a very "unusual" relationship with her manic brother, and Nate being on the verge of death, contemplating the meaning of life? You can bet there's no sex going on, nor communicating. In essence, these are two people who on the one hand, cannot be alone, and on the other - are terrified of commitment. They want a family, a loving home, but they never seem to reach it. Towards the end, Nate almost seems to get there, truly seems enlightened and perhaps ready to embark on something that will change him forever. But he dies before he gets the chance. Brenda remains the same. Still terrified of the world and herself, still equipped with enough ammunition to keep everyone at bay, even her non biological daughter. In the finale, still one of the best ever on TV, we see her remarried, seemingly happy with another child, it appears that perhaps something has changed in her, and she can love. But for the point in time when she and Nate tried to be something they were not ready for, it was tragic. How does the old saying go - you cannot love another until you love yourself? These two were the perfect example.

Born in Israel, but raised partly in the UK, Shira is rather an odd duck. She will get in your face with her opinion, but will then be super polite to the waitress serving her a cocktail, no matter how bad the service is. Movies are her passion, along with good TV, music, and Shakespeare. She loves to sing and goes to karaoke a lot, too. She will do anything creative, and will resort to finger painting if necessary. Shira also, apparently, enjoys writing about herself in third person, which is weird. But she just finished her first Fantasy novel, and it's not about her, so that's ok. Shira is very glad to be a part of WhatCulture!
